Hi Move Fast, Think Slow Readers - Welcome to this week’s MF/TS. Last week I dug into 2024 Paris Olympics, shared a running update, and gave you an assignment. Did you do the assignment? If not, will you take time for yourself and give it a try? 🏃♂️ You might be surprised but why you see on the other side of it. ✍️
Speaking of running, if you have time and are willing, want to make a donation for the charity I’m running for in this year’s NYC Marathon? You can do so here. Thank you ahead of time! :)
This week, I’m sharing five perspectives that will open up the aperture in your mind’s eye. Have a great weekend!
5 QUICK LESSONS ON LIFE, MARKETING AND PERSPECTIVE
SERIOUS PERSPECTIVE - ANCESTRAL MATHEMATICS
It’s really far out when you think about it in this light. 🤯🤯🤯
WE GET TO SHARE THIS RIDE TOGETHER; HOW LUCKY ARE WE?
Don’t judge the image of the shirtless man, he drops some serious knowledge. This gent Unc.Pappy shared a quote from Anne Lamott via Pete Holmes about this time, on earth right now, we get to share this space with a group of people. And when you take into consideration all of time and space in the universe, this is a really tiny moment we get to all share. And just like you don’t get to choose your family, you don’t get to choose the people you ride on Earth with. But despite that, we can make the most of it. We can be kind to each other. We have a choice. How lucky are we? We get to choose how we show up. Link here if you want to watch. 🤔
“PEOPLE DON’T BUY BRANDS THEY BUY CATEGORIES.” - Al Reiss
This five minute clip put into perspective what Ad Contrarian so eloquently put when he said “no one gives a flying shit about your brand.” Al points out that brands need to represent a category because customers think of the category first, and then a brand name is just there to supplement it. It's an interesting concept when you think about it. This prompts the question, what everyday thought or need does your company fill? Speak to that. Give the video a watch, it’s a MBA marketing course in five minutes. 🤓
GROWTH WISDOM VIA PHIL STUTZ (H/T RICH ROLL)
This little clip is quite powerful. Rich has a popular podcast and recently had highly acclaimed psychiatrist Phil Stutz on.
Here’s an abbreviated summary:
He shared three important truths abougt life: 1) pain, 2) uncertainty and 3) the need for constant work.
What does that mean and why is that important?
Fine if you have goals and ambition. but if you are under the illusion that money, power, or status will absolve you from these three things. You will be disappointed and suffer.
Instead try to tie your goals to 1) meaning, 2) purpose, and 3) service. Instead find a way to service and give back to others, above the interest of the ego.
To cultivate, a personal faith, a sense of faith and spirituality to understand that there is more to this shot life than just our individual concerns. Finally to cultivate a practice of gratitude or gratefulness in your life. To being more present and intentional in your life, to honoring the good you already have.

BEING LIGHT IS HARD BY G.K. CHESTERTON
I found this beautiful and a truth never really discussed within culture; it’s hard to be light. To be sweet. To be helpful. In a world that throws arrows and daggers at us. In a world where our egos can drown out the beauty of our day-to-day. It’s those of you who still smile. Still bring joy. Still find ways to extract the magic from this experience that are truly the strongest. That are truly doing the hard work. It’s hard to be light. 🕊️🕊️
